Hi!
I have just tracked the William Watkins, profiled in the 'Famous Watkins People' section of this site, as being my Great Grandfather's Grandfather. I am led to believe William and Martha Watkins had a daughter Rebecca who had a son David Brown. David Brown decided to change his name to a combination of his Grandmother's and mother's maiden names Dally and Watkins respecively. This is where the name Dally-Watkins originated. Major David Dally-Watkins then went on to have 3 wives and 4 children (1 adoptive). My Grandfather is the son of the first marriage.

I am interested to know if a family tree exists which includes William Watkins and his wife Martha and if there are any contact points for this branch of the family.

A Gloucester Boy in Wales

Hi Jennifer,
William Watkins (1822-1878) had a brother Richard. I am Richard's great, great grandson.
Rebecca was William and Martha Watkin's 3rd daughter. I haven't drilled down past Rebecca but would be interested in swapping information, photos etc.
