Hello I'm beginning my search for family history

I would be grateful if anyone knows of William Watkins (my great grandfather)
Date and Place of birth on his death certificate is 12/4/1884 Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. He died 8/4/1969 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. I'm unable to find a birth registration or baptism to trace family further back. He moved to Nuneaton, Warwickshire and married Eliza Starkey on 16/4/1906. I don't know if he had siblings or his parents names. His father's name on the marriage cert is William Watkins.
