Reply from emmawatkins, 12-03-2010, 22:03:

Hello again,
Just wondered if in your wide font of knowledge you know anything about searching for records from baptist chapels. It looks like my family were connected to Rumney Baptist Chapel, Rumney around 1880 but I can't locate any records for baptisms, marriages or burials for there. As always any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Ancestor search-James Watkins (1779-1839) Hereford

Post by Leonard James Watkins, 25-02-2010, 03:12:

According to his Discharge from the 1st Battalion 39th Regiment of Foot at Fort Chambly Quebec Canada in January 1815, JAMES WATKINS was born in the Parish(Civil?) of Linton? in or near the Town of Hereford,County of Hereford.
Shown as a volunteer from the Hereford Militia,he enlisted at the age of 18
in the 2nd Battalion 39th Foot on 25 August 1807 in the Town of Hereford.
I have a muster listing of his movements 1807 to 1815 and fairly complete
family tree of JAMES' Family in Canada.

Unfortuately, I don't know his parents names especially his mother's maiden name so my ancestor and sibling search is very difficult. In addition,
"James Watkins" was a popular name with as many as 7 James' born in 1779 in Hereford.

I would appreciate any information or suggestions to continue this search.

I'm the oldest member in the 7th generation from JAMES in his son William's
branch: Leonard James Watkins born in Drummondville,Quebec.
I'm interested in sharing Family Tree information and photos.

Post by rulowatkins, 25-01-2010, 18:31:

All Watkins Family Enthusiasts,

I am trying to plan a trip to Wales in July of 2010 and I am trying to pin point locations surrounding the Llangibby Murders. My great great grandfather was a child that survived the attach by the Spanish sailor in 1878. Any guidance is greatly appreciated as I could only find a few threads of info but none mentioned the location.
Thanks in advance
I have checked through the various censuses back as far as 1841 and in that found Thomas and Eleanor Watkins in Flannel street, Abergavenny but don't know how to go any further back as there births are pre 1837 I can't order the birth certificates, any advice would be more helpful, thank you.

I would like to find out where Gertrude fits into the Dally Watkins family tree? Was she related to Major David Dally Watkins?
In Australian BDM's I can only find her death in 1932. Father Albert, Mother Mary A. There is no record of Gertrudes Birth or a Marraige.
