William Watkins abt 1810 Monmouthshire

Post by Carolbrownmoore, 09-11-2008, 15:08:

I am searching for any information regarding William Watkins (abt 1810) from Blaina/Garnfach ? area in Monmouth. I think he married Ann Roberts from Gloucestershire in 1832. My ancestor was their 2nd child Henry Watkins (b 1837). Henry's other siblings being: George (b 1835); Alice (b 1839); Albert (b 1841); Stephen (b 1843) and John (b 1846).

I would ideally love any info about William and his siblings/parents and an idea about the farm they lived on.
Regards,

Post by KameAi, 05-11-2008, 05:46:

Hi...I'm still looking for more information on Quincy and Vandalia Watkins of Isle of Wight County. I've been able to trace some of their descendants, but would love to go beyond Quincy and Vandalia to help a Watkins descendant who is interested in learning about the Watkins lineage she has never known. Thanks for any help you can provide. Linda

Watkins family - Barbados

Reply from tonyw, 28-10-2008, 21:05:

Hi David,

My great grandfather was Charles Walter Wellesly Watkins who was a sister of Julia Elizabeth Watkins whose parents were Robert Yearwood Watkins and Elizabeth King. This means that our great grandparents were brother and sister.
I was beginning to doubt that I would receive any replies to my original post. Unfortunately I have been unable to do much research since January of last year. However I intend to get back to it shortly as I am having a hip operation next Friday and will have much time to spend on the computer. I intend to re-visit the Archives early in new year to see if I can get any more information on either Jane Benskin or Samuel Isaac Watkins.
My e-mail address is tonyw[at]caribsurf.com if you need to contact me directly.
Best Regards

Emma Watkins born in TN

Post by Evelyn Rard, 26-10-2008, 18:34:

I have not been here in a few years and hopefully there is someone here now who knows something about this lady. I can't find her before she married in TX in 1894.

Emma's bible records indicate she was born April 24, 1877 in TN. She married Edward McCarver July 24, 1894 in Collin Co TX. She gave his place of birth as KY. She later married Albert J Ensley in Collin Co TX, left him after a few years and in 1919 bought property in Tulsa OK. She died November 12, 1936 in Tulsa.

One of Emma's grandson's said her middle name was Althea. Her death certificate says her mother's name was Nancy. Her mother's maiden name was required but I don't know if this is a first or last name. It also says her father's name was Wadkins with a "d" instead of a "t".

I have been looking for this woman for years and any clue would be appreciated.

Gary Watkins

Post by Evalena Lidman, 24-10-2008, 08:54:

I am looking for relatives of Gary Watkins (circa 1940-1998?), whose parents or grandparents hailed from Oklahoma. The only other name I
have is Crystal Covington, the maiden name of a grandmother.

Gary had two children, Mark and Lauren, now in their late forties/early fifties, possibly born in Ohio.

And 1980 he was living in Lancaster, PA.

Reply from David Hayter, 23-10-2008, 20:40:

I live in London and have been trying to trace my Barbados ancestors. Like you, I have come to a stop with Samuel and Jane Watkins. I am descended from Robert Yearwood and Elizabeth King. My grandmother was Julia Elizabeth Watkins who married George Hayter. Are you descended from Samuel Thomas or,nearer to me,from Robert Yearwood and Elizabeth? I was in Barbados last year but had no luck either at Black Rock Archives or Westbury Cemetary. Do let me know if I am on the right track and just how we are related. Greetings David Hayter

Ephriam Albert Watkins son of James Martin Watkins

Reply from Howard K. Watkins, 14-10-2008, 05:48:

If there is a living male Watkins who directly descends from your grandfather, then he can participate in the Watkins Family DNA Project. If he matches a current participant, that would mean that you and he have a recent common ancestor with the existing participant. This may then help you extend your Watkins ancestry back further generations. Information about the DNA Project is on the Watkins Family History Society website at www.watkinsfhs.net. Just click on “DNA Project” and you can get all the information you need. Information on current participants can be found on Lee Preston’s website.
Good Luck,
